Haydn’s Creation is Comingˆ
Greater South Jersey Chorus (GSJC) will continue celebrating 25 years of fine choral music with its final concert of the 2016-17 season. The culminating event of GSJC’s 25 th anniversary will be The Creation, presented on Saturday, May 6 at 7:30 PM.
Four professional vocalists and a 38-piece orchestra will join the 90-voice GSJC to showcase Haydn’s magnificent work, led by Dr. Christopher Thomas, Artistic Director. Dr. Thomas is also Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Rowan University in Glassboro.
Rehearsing every Monday evening at Grace Church in Haddonfield, GSJC is the chorus in residence for Haddonfield Center and School for the Performing Arts (HCSPA). The director of HCSPA is Maximilian Esmus, who is also the accompanist for both GSJC and the Chamber Singers of GSJC. Greater South Jersey Chorus has been bringing exceptional choral music to the South Jersey region for a quarter century, and this anniversary year has proved especially impressive in its range of musical ventures. “Our 25th year began with our fall Artist Showcase, and an important new partnership with Symphony in C, when we sang Messiah with them in December,” said Thomas. “This winter we have presented several very different events, including our annual Cabaret, as well as a choral pops concert in March, both at GSJC’s home at Haddonfield Center and School for the Performing Arts. Most recently, the chorus held its successful Vino Forte fundraising gala on March 30 at Moorestown Community House.”
The May 6 concert of The Creation will take place at the Community of Christ Our Light on Kings Highway in Cherry Hill at 7:30 PM.
The Creation tickets may be purchased in advance for $30 on the chorus website, greatersouthjerseychorus.org, or at the door for $35.
