The Greater South Jersey Chorus Announces its 35th Anniversary with the 2026/27 Season
Mozart’s Requiem with the Bay Atlantic Symphony, two holiday concerts, Broadway at the Scottish Rite, and Daniel Jackson named Associate Conductor.
CHERRY HILL, NJ (September 22, 2026) — The Greater South Jersey Chorus launches its 35th Anniversary season with an exhilarating season of major choral works. Daniel Jackson will join the chorus this season as its newly appointed Associate Conductor.
Artistic Director Dr. Christopher Thomas opens the season with Mozart’s Requiem, sharing the stage with the Bay Atlantic Symphony in two performances: October 30 at 7 pm and November 1 at 2 pm. Bay Atlantic’s Music Director, Jed Gaylin, recently named one of the top 30 professionals by Musical America, leads the orchestra, and soloists Jennifer Casey Cabor, soprano, Taylor Hilary Boikins, mezzo-soprano, Min Jin, tenor, and Jim Williams, bass, share the stage.
Back by popular demand, the annual tradition of December performances brings joy and holiday cheer to familiar seasonal favorites. December 12 at 7:30 pm, presented by the Rowan University Performance Series, will include the Atlantic Brass Band, as well as a resounding mix of voice and brass side by side. On December 13, 2026 at 3 pm, the holiday choral program will open with the Chamber Singers as well as the full chorus taking listeners through a jubilant collection of carols and holiday songs.
The Greater South Jersey Chorus will light up the stage at the Scottish Rite Auditorium on March 14 at 3 pm. Audiences will enjoy a collection of beloved songs for the Broadway stage from momentous works such as West Side Story, Candide, The Wiz, Dear Evan Hansen, and Ragtime. Also included on the program are favorite songs of George Gershwin.
The season concludes on May 2 at 3 pm with a program that celebrates the richness and diversity of the choral tradition through two extraordinary twentieth-century masterworks. At its heart is Steve Dobrogosz’s jazz-influenced Mass, an intimate and deeply expressive setting that blends lush string writing, soaring melodies, and subtle jazz harmonies into a work that is at once thoughtful, provocative, and profoundly moving. Paired with it is R. Nathaniel Dett’s monumental The Chariot Jubilee, considered the first symphonic work built entirely on African American spirituals.
This season is particularly exciting for us. We’re proud to consider ourselves the premiere chorus in South Jersey, as we celebrate our 35th anniversary season, alongside a collection of tremendous artistic partners, a return to the Scottish Rite Auditorium, and a whole new look and branding for the organization. It is indeed a great time to experience the power of song among a group of exceptional singers. We can’t wait to showcase our remarkable chamber singers along with our full chorus of over 130 singers.
